“It would be such a shame for the people of Cochrane to miss out on an opportunity to keep Terry’s legacy alive,” said provincial director for the Terry Fox Foundation Alberta, N.W.T. and Nunavut Rhonda Risebrough of the possibility of the community not taking part in this year’s event.

The Terry Fox Run is in need of a run organizer for this year’s event in Cochrane, and thus far has not seen anyone step forward to take the helm.

“The Terry Fox Foundation funds research into all kinds of cancer,” said Risebrough, “believing as Terry did, that we need to conquer this disease once and for all.”

Since Terry Fox started the run in 1980 with the Marathon of Hope, the foundation has raised over $600 million, donating 84 cents of every dollar it receives toward cancer research in Fox’s name.

The Terry Fox Foundation has stressed that run organizers ‘are extremely important for their community’s involvement.’

Anyone interested in being the run organizer for the Cochrane Terry Fox Run, which would take place Sept. 14, contact Risebrough at [email protected], or by calling 403-836-9786.
