The road to a healthier lifestyle

It’s never too late to follow through on your New Year’s resolution, particularly if it involves your health as it’s related to your weight. Fortunately, Cochrane’s Deb Spence has an app for that.

It’s never too late to follow through on your New Year’s resolution, particularly if it involves your health as it’s related to your weight.

Fortunately, Cochrane’s Deb Spence has an app for that.

OK, maybe not an application as defined in communication-technology terms, but the owner of Ideal Weight Management in Cochrane has the No. 1 diet method in Canada, as rated by dietsinreview.com, and it’s available to anyone. Spence is more than willing to introduce people interested in losing weight, and keeping it off to improve their overall health, to Ideal Protein.

“It is really quite simple,” Spence says of the Ideal Protein diet/lifestyle method. “People can phone us and book an appointment. They can come to the information sessions or book a one-on-one consultation.

“The program is one page. If you can read that one page and follow that one page, you’re good to go.”

Ideal Protein emphasizes the importance of diet/health education and comprehension as part of its weight-loss program. The method teaches weight-maintenance habits and balanced lifestyles choices, including:

– How body fat is effectively burned

– The relationship between insulin and weight gain

– Which foods are best suited for healthy weight management

– When, why and in what combination to eat carbohydrates, fats and proteins

– Weight stabilization and maintenance habits

“The reason I got involved is because of a family history of type 2 diabetes,” says Spence. “My firm belief is type 2 diabetes is the next pandemic, and there’s a way to address it. There’s a way to address it that doesn’t involve people taking Metformin and shooting themselves full of insulin.

“And this (Ideal Protein) is it.

“A point to add is that we are seeing more and more men. They are very successful on the program, finding it easy to follow and getting great results. Another point is that emotional eating is a significant factor in weight loss – I call it the missing X-factor in successful weight management. I now offer a coaching program to address this issue called ‘Stop Emotional Eating.’”

The next information session is March 9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. All attendees at the information session who start the program receive a $25 discount on the program fee.
