The 33rd annual Bearspaw Market will be hosting over 80 vendors on site this upcoming weekend.

With 22 new vendors this year, market coordinator Maureen Unland said she likes to keep things interesting.

“The weather is supposed to be good, so I’m quite positive on this,” Unland said.

All booths have been sold out, with 86 vendors to host their arts, craft and home products at the market with a new caterer to be serving food for hungry guests.

“The last two years, we’ve gone up in people who’ve gone through the door,” Unland said.

Vendors will have a variety of items, such as handmade ornaments, wood products, bird houses, wine holders, baby blankets, ladies clothing, jewelry, skin care, pottery, ceramics, photography, original art, custom-made guitars, books – to name a few.

“This year, we have a lady who just moved to Cochrane; she remodels vintage furs into Victorian muffs, pillows and shawls,” Unland said.

The coordinator also said this year’s market would host a variety of crafts, such as a lady who makes clay flowers, a skill she learned in Japan; as well as a water-colourist who has been with the market for over 10 years.

The market will be running throughout the weekend; Friday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 18 from noon to 5 p.m. There will be a $3 entry fee.

Unland said other markets have been saying they have seen a drop in numbers due to the recession in the economy, “But we’ve hit this problem before, so it’ll be interesting to see (how it goes) – I expect it to go really well.”

Applications for next year’s market will open April 2016.
