Blues musician Tim Williams will be hitting the stage at the Legacy Guitar House on April 29.

The former Californian settled in Canada in the 1970s and has been performing all over the country since.

“I moved to Canada because it has fewer people, fewer handguns, and more space,” Williams explained.

Drawing inspiration from music played during his childhood, the singer/songwriter’s genre can be described as acoustic blues, which occasionally turns into roots and folk music.

Lately, Williams has been donning a cigar box guitar during his shows that he won in Memphis, Tennessee, but he admits he can comfortably play a wide variety of other instruments.

His touring season will start getting busy after May 8 and will remain steady until around September or October, mostly performing in Western Canada with the exception of some Washington dates.

Anyone planning to attend his Cochrane gig can expect to hear lots of songs from his new album, Solow. Since its release in November 2015, the album “made No. 2 for the Roots Music Report for Canada, number 20 in the States, and number thirty worldwide” Williams said.

The album is available for purchase at cdbaby.com. Williams is looking forward to visit Cochrane again.

“Actually, Legacy Guitar House is pretty much a favourite of mine – partially because it’s always a good time and the seating and the sound are all nice.”

Tickets for the performance are available online or at the Legacy Guitar and Coffee House. The show starts at 8 p.m.
