This Christmas season, drop on down to North Star Ford in Cochrane to take part in the inaugural Fill-A-Truck campaign.

Spearheaded by the dealership’s sales manager, Bridget Calvank, the cause will see food and toy donations for the Cochrane Activettes Food Bank placed in the bed of a red Ford F-150.

“I’m new to the Cochrane area and I saw the Activettes come in to the dealership with this tiny box,” said Calvank, who moved to the community from Oshawa, Ont. “I thought we could do better than that.”

North Star Ford kicked things off with a hefty donation worth about $1,000, according to Calvank. Now, the truck box is over half full with donations for the Activettes’ Share Your Christmas campaign.

“Cochrane is a community that seems to stand together on things,” said Calvank. “We’re thinking we may want to run this event annually, for no other reason than to help our community.”

Donations can be dropped off in the showroom between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. The campaign wraps up on Dec. 14.
