Rocky View County Fire Services responded to a call of a tractor (vehicle) fire around 3 p.m. Feb. 27, dispatching crews from Bearspaw and Madden.

Upon arrival to the rural location along Twp 274, west of Hwy 22, crews observed the homeowners had dragged the burning tractor outside of their barn, where the tractor had originally caught fire.

The cause of the blaze is believed to have been a result of an electrical or mechanical malfunction.

No parties were injured, although the tractor incurred serious damages as a result of the fire.

Rocky View County Fire chief Randy Smith said this location is on the border between the county’s first response area and Cochrane Fire Services. As the incident was not reported as a structure fire, Cochrane was not dispatched.
