Used Toy and Clothing Sale at new location this year

The biannual ‘Used Toy and Clothing Sale’ will be held at a new venue, the Spray Lake Sawmills (SLS) Family Sports Centre this May 24 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

The biannual ‘Used Toy and Clothing Sale’ will be held at a new venue, the Spray Lake Sawmills (SLS) Family Sports Centre this May 24 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Event founder and organizer, Shana Bruder, still has tables available for vendors looking to sell their gently used baby and children’s items to families in search of a bargain.

“I’m looking forward to the new space and the opportunity this will create for new vendors – and the better parking at the SLS Centre,” said Bruder, adding that admission to the sale is by donation.

As per tradition, Bruder has selected another local cause to benefit from all door donation proceeds.

The proceeds from this spring sale will go toward local Valentina Fenton’s quest to help the Foothills Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) raise $25,000 for a therapeutic hypothermic bed.

Fenton’s own son, Derroch, now nine months old, was born with a hypoxic brain injury (lack of oxygen to the brain). Thanks to NICU staff and facilities, Fenton’s son has made a full recovery.

“We want all babies to have the opportunity our son had. We are grateful to Shana for this opportunity,” said Fenton, who helped raise Cochrane dollars to go toward Calgary NICU and the Stollery Children’s Hospital through the Mother’s Day Run and Walk held at Chinook Centre May 11.

The biannual sale used to be held at the Cochrane RancheHouse each spring and fall. A sale that is normally lined up before the doors open, Bruder hopes traffic will increase even more with the improved parking situation at the SLS Centre.
