Police continue to investigate a weekend rollover that resulted in the death of three-old-girl from the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.

On July 15 at approximately 6:45 p.m., Cochrane RCMP responded to the scene where a pickup truck rolled on Highway 1A, approximately one kilometre west of the Goodstoney Rodeo Grounds. The driver was transported to a Calgary hospital in critical condition and the child, who was the only passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said they are still investigating the speed of the vehicle at the time of the rollover and alcohol was “definitely ” not a factor.

“The road conditions were dry and the weather was clear … we are investigating other possible causes of impairment, ” Savinkoff said.

It is currently unknown if the driver will be facing charges.
