Where does all that wrapping, wrapping and more wrapping go?

Where to put "stuff" after opening it come Christmas day.

"Tomorrow is Christmas! It's practically here."

If you are wondering where to put all that junk covering up the goodies under your tree, here is a little friendly reminder to guide you through the next few days.

All mixed paper including gift bags, paper gift wrap, tissue paper, gift tags and greeting cards will go in your BLUE BIN.

This is also the case for all cardboard and boxboard which includes things like gift boxes and those wrapping paper rolls which of course, you must sword fight family members with first.

Beverage containers, if you care to not take them in to the bottle depot can also go in your BLUE BIN along with any newspaper and flyers.

All plastics like bubble wrap, plastic bags, cellophane wrap, moulded plastic packaging and plastic containers will go in the BLUE BIN.

And finally all metal and tin will go in the BLUE BIN. Some examples are cans, tins, pie plates and aluminum foil.

Things NOT to put in your BLUE BIN.

  • Ribbons
  • Bows
  • Tape
  • String
  • Meat trays and styrofoam (though you won't go to jail for putting them in the garbage, the Eco Centre is the better place for these)
  • Foil and plastic garland
  • Multi-material wrapping paper (plastic and foil gift wrap)
  • Bubble mailing envelopes (paper and plastic mixed)

Take note as holiday waste and recycling collection changes have been made for Christmas Day and New Years Day.

If you are in Zone 3 which are the communities of Heartland, Heritage Hills, West Pointe, West Terrace and West Valley, waste and recycling collection for Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 will move to Saturday, Dec 28 and Saturday, Jan 4.

If you are in a Zone 2 community which includes Cochrane Heights, Sunterra and Sunset Ridge, Wednesday organics collection for Dec. 25 will move to Saturday, Dec. 28.

Curbside Christmas Tree round up will also run from January 6-17 on the same days as your waste and recycling collection.
