Education critic Leela Aheer will be at the Bragg Creek Community Centre tonight at 8 p.m. to discuss the future of education.

The Chestermere-Rocky View Wildrose MLA will give a short speech and then open it to the audience for discussion.

“One of the most concerning issues is the lack of transparency surrounding the ongoing curriculum rewrite,” said the shadow minister.

“Our reasonable request to the government to release the names of the associations and other expert bodies has been met by the ridiculous statement that Albertans want to bully them.”

Aheer said the Wildrose vision is putting the emphasis back on the rights of parents, creating greater accountability and putting the emphasis back on fundamentals of education.

“People in this (Banff-Cochrane) riding are tired of an NDP MLA who doesn’t stand up for the best interests of the constituency,” she said, adding that now is the time for people to board the Wildrose bus, set differences aside and “bring the conservative family together” by supporting unity.
