World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler Devon ‘Hannibal’ Nicholson has won a court battle confirming that he did contract hepatitis C during a wrestling match in Cochrane.

Nicholson filed a $6.5 million lawsuit and was awarded over $2 million after the wrestler contracted the disease following a May 26, 2007 match against WWE hall-of-famer Lawrence Robert Shreve, known as Abdulah the Butcher at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Nicholson has said that Shreve had a razor blade taped to his finger during the match, a contention Abdulah the Butcher has refuted, along with the claim that he has hepatitis C.

Nicholson said he has been cured of the disease thanks to an experimental drug and hopes to re-launch his WWE career.

His original WWE contract was terminated in 2009 when it was discovered he had hepatitis C.
