Thirty-one Cochrane area residents have qualified for the Alberta 55-Plus Summer Games, which are being held in Westlock-Barrhead on July 25-28.
Eight new qualifiers include Shirley Thomas, Helen Grieve and May Olson in crochet; Beryl Moe, Roswitha Blouin and Henning Pederson in oil painting; Blouin in women’s 60-plus swimming and Henry Wilson in men’s 75-plus swimming.
They join 23 other Cochrane area citizens who previously qualified:
Lee and Lois Edwards of Redwood Meadows in contract bridge, Henry and Yvonne Velhuis in cribbage; Bill Lee, Donna Tomecek, Karl Gibbie and Faye Frerot in floor curling; Margaret Whitlock (75-plus), Leilani DuToit (65-plus) Bonnie Barnett (55-plus) and Frank Hutchins (65-plus) in golf; Ernie Domshy of Bearspaw in horseshoes; Nancy Gibbie and Bill Gibbons in billiards; Pat Drinnan, Ralph Gardeski, Nick Radmanovich and Jack Rudd in slo-pitch; and Chris and Joan Logan (mixed), Lorraine Fader and Patricia Wylie (women) in tennis.
