The Cochrane Generals' upcoming preseason exhibition game against the University of Korea has been called off.

The local junior B team announced the game's cancellation on social media on Tuesday. The preseason exhibition, which would have been the first time the Generals played a team from another continent, was originally scheduled for Labour Day Monday.

"Due to unfortunate circumstances, our game against Korea University on Sept. 5 has been cancelled," stated a Tweet from the Generals' Twitter account.

When reached, head coach Kurtis Jones said the reason for the game's cancellation was the number of injured players on the University of Korea roster.

The Korean university squad has been in Alberta to play exhibition games against local junior teams, including the Generals, the Okotoks Bisons, and AJHL's Calgary Canucks. The team's game against the Bisons was similarly called off over the weekend.

The Generals begin their preseason camp on Aug. 31. After the first week of on-ice sessions, they will play an intra-squad game on Sept. 4, according to the team's Twitter account.
