Cochrane's Jordan Kwas has spread his wings and flown to Colorado.

The University of Alaska-Anchorage alum has joined the Colorado Eagles, the Calgary Flames' East Coast Hockey League development club based in Windsor, Colo.

The Eagles announced Aug. 27 the Cochrane Minor Hockey product had signed with the club for the 2014-15 season.

“I’ve heard a lot of great things about the organization,” Kwas was quoted in an Eagles press release announcing his signing. “My coach at UAA, Matt Thomas, also coached in Stockton and he spoke very highly of the Eagles organization and the way that the players are treated there. I’m really looking forward to getting a fresh start and having a good season.”

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward spent the past four seasons with the University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves, accumulating 90 points in 124 games, including 30 goals. He led the Seawolves in scoring in his junior season, registering 20 points in 29 games. Kwas followed that up with career-highs in goals (13), assists (19) and points (32), while generating seven multi-point games in his senior season.

“Jordan is a very talented young player who can put the puck in the back of the net,” said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. “He comes from a very solid program at UAA and we’re excited for what he can bring to our club this season.”

Prior to joining the UAA Seawolves, Kwas played three seasons of Junior A hockey in Victoria and Olds. Kwas played three seasons in Olds, collecting 43 goals and 127 points in 134 games with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Grizzlys by the end of the 2009-10 season.
