The Foothills Elite Peewee AAA hockey team won it’s home Spring Ice Breaker tournament April 14 at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Foothills, featuring players from around the region and four from Cochrane, edged Calgary Rage 5-4 in a sudden-death shootout to win the tourney. Foothills went 4-0 at the event.

“The tournament was very successful. All the teams said they enjoyed the tourney,” said tournament coordinator Michael Marchildon. “It was a great way to begin the spring hockey season with an early-bird tournament like this with some of the tournaments we’re going to face.”

Foothills will be in Edmonton April 26-28 for the Champions Cup before skating at the Showdown in Cowtown on the May long weekend.
