After marching into 2014 with a tactically-superior win over High River, the Cochrane Generals are now firing blanks at a pivotal point in their campaign to seize a Heritage Junior Hockey League playoff spot. The Gens dropped a pair of weekend games; losing 7-2 in Red Deer on Jan. 11 after getting shelled 9-2 at home by Southern Division-rival Banff Bears on Jan. 10.

With their latest two battles lost, the war still rages with 10 games remaining in the campaign. The Generals are sixth in Southern Division standings with 23 points, three points out of a fifth-place playoff spot currently occupied by Medicine Hat.

Andrew Bergmann and Tyson Soloski scored Cochrane’s goals against Red Deer and Banff.

The Generals take aim at the Okotoks Bisons Jan. 18 at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre, 7:30 puck drop.
