The Cochrane Generals split a pair of weekend road games, dropping a 4-2 decision to the Copperheads Nov. 18 in Coaldale after downing the Banff Bears 6-3 Nov. 17 in Banff.

Tyson Soloski and Kris Keller netted Cochrane’s goals in the Coaldale tilt.

Forrest Ayearst started in goal for Cochrane but was replaced by Matt Shawchuk in the second period after taking an intentional stick in the face, just below the eye, from Coaldale’s Dillon Houghton in the second period.

Houghton received a match penalty on the play and was ejected from the game.

“There was a stoppage in play and Houghton cross-checked Forrest and then put him in a headlock,” Generals general manager Jacqueline Hurlbert said of the incident, adding Ayearst will be fine.

“After the two were separated, Houghton skated behind the net and swung his stick at Forrest’s head.”

In Banff, Keller scored twice with Ian McRae, Patrick Dove, Alex Colborne and Taylor House adding singles. Shawchuk earned the win in net for Cochrane.

The Generals travel to Stettler Nov. 24 to jolt the Lightning, 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
