Cochrane High School Cobras golfer Bria Jansen shot 77-78-155 to win the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association girl’s individual golf title Sept. 30 at Redwood Meadows Golf and Country Club.
It was her second-straight individual provincial high school championship.
She led Cobras girls, who finished second in team standings behind Harry Anley High School of Edmonton, a 4A school with a student population of more than 2,000.
“We had a really great team this year,” the 17-year-old Cobras senior said. “I was disappointed with how I played in the first round because it was at my home course.”
Cochrane High’s Melanie Murchison was also on fire over the two-day provincial tourney held Sept. 29-30 at Springbank’s River Spirit and Redwood Meadows, carding 77-82-159. Kenya Rasmassen shot 119-112 and Carly Charbonneau 120-109 to round out Cochrane’s provincial team silver performance.
In boy’s high school provincial play, the Cochrane Cobras took bronze.
