Cochrane Cowboys/St. Timothy Thunder School wrestler Connor McNeice finished in 17th place at the World Cup of wrestling in Slovakia.

The showing among the world’s elite caps a lengthy, highly-successful season for the 14-year-old wrestler who wrestled in Japan and at the national tournament before grappling July 19 in the 50-kilogram class at the World Cup in Snina, Slovakia.

“Connor and the rest of his team will now take a couple months of well deserved rest,” said Cochrane Cowboys coach and dad Vern McNeice. “He is looking forward to just being a normal kid again. With stops in Iowa, Japan and Slovakia in the last month alone, this St. Timothy student needs some R and R!”

But the wrestler is already talking about next year.

“He truly believed he lost a match that he could have won, and as we sit talking about it in the Vienna Airport, he is already talking about trying to get back to the worlds next year!,” coach McNeice said. “Talking about things he can improve on.”
