Eric Ferguson goes up for a pass during a Cochrane Midget Lions preseason training-camp session March 23 at Edge School field. The Lions are preparing for the 2015 Calgary Area Midget Football Association season, which kicks-off April 1, and Lions roster spots are still available for interested Grade 9-11 players aged 14-18.

So you want to play some football? Now's your chance. The Cochrane Midget Lions have space for players aged 14-18 (Grades 9-11) to play right now.

“Absolutely. We'd love to have anybody out, whether they've played before or not, ” enthuses Lions head coach Jud Graham, who in his rookie season at the helm coached the Lions to two playoff wins in 2014 Calgary Area Midget Football Association (CAMFA) play. “If it's a kid who wants to try out for his high school team next year, he can come out and we'll train him up and give him some skills he's going to need. I think someone would get a lot more out of that than going to a camp or something - coming out and actually playing live football against good competition. ”

Cochrane's area of player eligibility includes Canmore, Bragg Creek, Cremona, Bearspaw and Cochrane. Contact coach Graham at [email protected] or visit the team's website at cochranefootball.com

The CAMFA regular season begins April 1 and runs through May. Games are played at Calgary's Shouldice Park.
