Newcomer Mark Lootens (from left) was voted Cochrane Generals new secretary at the team’s annual general meeting May 13. Mel Boothby returns as treasurer, former player Chase Kinch comes in as vice-president and former coach Ken Soloski as president.

When outgoing president Greg Keller looked down the table at possible replacements, sitting at the other end was former head coach Ken Soloski.

Soloski was voted the team’s new president at the Generals’ annual general meeting May 13 at Cochrane Legion. Soloski has a deep dossier with the club. He was the team’s head coach for a season, assistant coach for several more and is the dad of graduating player Tyson Soloski.

“There are two guys stepping down (Keller and V-P Dana Boothby) whose shoes are going to be hard to fill,” Ken Soloski said following the AGM. “They did a marvellous job and it’s going to be hard for us to match their contributions. I think the Cochrane Generals board takes experiences from the past and builds on them. Continue what they started and make sure, bottom line, that this organization is successful.”
