Cochrane bull rider Steven Turner was the big winner of the local rodeo cowboys competing at two Canadian Pro Rodeo Association events over the long weekend in British Columbia.

Turner tied for first with an 86 score on Pop Evil at the Luxton Pro Rodeo on Vancouver Island, tying Jordan Hansen of Okotoks. Both took home $1,830.41 ($1,126.59 in ground money.) At the Falklands Stampede, Turner took third with an 82 score for $903.72 in earnings.

Cochrane’s Denny Phipps tied Luke Creasy of Brownfield, AB, for fifth in bareback at Luxton. They each took home $300 for their effort.

In steer wrestling, Tanner Milan tied Scott Guenthner of Consort for first place in Luxton with a 3.8-second run. Each earned $1,535.96.

Milan finished tied for sixth with Layne Delemont of Chauvin, AB, at the Falkland event. They earned $501.02 each for their 4.5-second runs.

As of May 12, Cochrane’s Harley Cole was leading CPRA steer wrestling standings with $3,998.29 in earnings from five events.
