Thunder junior boys filling the basket

The St. Timothy High School Thunder junior-varsity boys basketball team won its Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association season-opener 70-55 against Calgary’s John G. Diefenbaker High School Dec. 12 in Calgary.

On Dec. 17, the Thunder lost a thriller, 101-96, to Calgary’s James Fowler. The Thunder JV boys take a break for Christmas before returning to the floor Jan. 6 for an exhibition against Bow Valley High School and a home league game Jan. 8 against Calgary’s Central Memorial.

“It’s the first time we have had a boys high school program in four years, so having a good team has been a big boost for us,” said Thunder JV boys basketball coach Travis Cummings.

The Rocky View Rage football program has taken on with a new league.

After spending the 2013 season with the Central Football League, the Rage peewees will be playing in the Central Pee Wee Football League (CPWFL). The CPWFL has teams in Innisfail, Olds, Lacombe, Red Deer, Strathmore, Stettler, Sylvan Lake and Wetaskiwin.
