Alan Mclean Keil

Alan Mclean Keil passed away peacefully April 13, 2024 at the age of 96. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Joyce, and children Sarah Stillabower (Laura, Kerry{Alex, Irene, Gus Ophilia} Justin, Jessica {Ralph}), Helen Little (Rachel {Chase}, Courtney, Samantha), Adam Keil (Jordan, Rebecca {Ryker}, Brianna) and Barbara Rankin (Catherine). Alan enjoyed a full and long life, always making the most of every opportunity.  He graduated as a physician from Cambridge University, England, and moved Joyce and first born Sarah to Canada for work in 1959. Starting in Saskatoon (which they found a little cold) they settled in Calgary where Alan worked at the Holy Cross Hospital helping to set up the cardiac unit as an anaesthesiologist, and ending with a short time at the Foothills until his retirement at age 70.  During this demanding career, he purchased a large property outside Cochrane where he loved farming, especially cattle, chickens and bees.  When he stopped commuting to the hospital, he turned his attention to the piano, wood turning and welding proudly earning certificates in all three activities.  He continued creating music and art for many years. 

Donations can be made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital, Saanichton BC in his honour as an alternative to flowers.
