ASHTON, Margaret “Peggy” Alice
May 8, 1942 - December 28, 2020
Peggy Ashton, age 78, passed away December 28, 2020 due to long term health complications. Peggy was born on May 8, 1942 at Fort Erie, Ontario to Jack and Elsie Shedden and was raised in Orillia, Ontario. Peggy married the love of her life, Ken Ashton, on October 8, 1966 and they soon created a family filled with children and pets.
Peggy loved being a pediatric nurse and enjoyed caring for young children and babies. Peggy also treasured the time she spent breeding and showing her Bichon Frise dogs. Peggy had an artistic life filled with creating a wide variety of crafts. Peggy enjoyed playing mini golf with her grandkids and loved going for drives in the mountains.
Peggy endured a lifetime of illness with an exceptional tenacity. She refused to live in past difficulties and lived her life looking forward.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Elise Shedden and by her daughter, Kimberly Ashton. She is survived by her husband, Ken Ashton; her daughter, Lisa Ramer and husband, Brad Ramer; her daughter, Krista Chenard and husband, Anthony Chenard; her son, Greg Ashton; her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Peggy's Life was held on Wednesday, January 6th, 2021. A recording of the memorial service will be available following the service by contacting the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to either the Cochrane Humane Society or the Cochrane Food Bank.
