FREDERICK JAMES (JIM) WILLIAMS

April 1927 - September 2022

Frederick James (Jim) Williams passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the age of 95. Beloved husband to Shirley, father to Jim (Cate), Lori (Fred), Deb (David), Janice (Amal) and Doug, stepfather to Brenda (Richard) and Allan (Cyndi), grandfather to Lucas, Stephanie, Tiffany, Lynzee, Abby, Nicolette, David, Alyson, Meghan, Daniel, Michael, Brianna, Emily and Christopher, great-grandfather to Jacob, Colton, Kaia, McKinnley, Evangeline, Mila and Hudson. Jim was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Anne, and five siblings.

Born in the hamlet of Vantage SK, Jim earned a master’s degree in geological engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and practiced as an engineer in the oil industry for over four decades. Active in his community, he received numerous awards for his service throughout his life: including as a 25-year board member for Calgary Co-op, Federated Co-op, Credit Union Central, and IPAC. Jim also felt called to share his faith with young people as a trusted friend, youth leader, and Sunday school teacher for 35 years at St. James Anglican church. Jim will be remembered for stories so good they could be told more than once, and a tenor singing voice that (nearly) matched his great passion for music. At rest, he could often be found in his study, reading more than anyone really should.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Ward, Dr. Duggan, the staff at Tom Baker Cancer Centre, and Agape Hospice for their dedication, compassion, and guidance along the last days of Jim’s journey on earth.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to St. James Anglican Church: stjamescalgary.com

A Funeral Service will take place at St. James Anglican Church (6351 Ranchview Dr NW Calgary) on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 11:00 am.  The service will be livestreamed at www.stjamescalgary.com

Funeral details will be posted on Jim’s obituary notice at www.cochranecountryfuneral.com. Condolences and messages for the family may be left there as well.
