Eventful spring for SOTB

Season end activities will keep Seniors on the Bow (SOTB) hopping through May and June. Be sure to sign up for the May 16 hot lunch. Choose between chili and chicken noodle soup with sandwiches and ice cream, all for $6.

The spring fashion show happens Saturday, May 24. Get your tickets to see Alia and Tan Jay fashions along with coffee, tea and goodies. Wine is $4 a glass.

Movie matinee is Monday, May 26 at 1:30 p.m. featuring Labor Day with Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin – a single mom offers a convicted convict a ride and the plot thickens.

Also Monday at 8:30 a.m., the foot doctor visits SOTB. Call Dorothy at 403-851-0812 for an appointment.

On Friday, May 30, the month closes with the book club at 2 p.m. discussing Wave, the true story of a mother and wife caught in the tsunami in Southeast Asia. The June book choice is No Great Mischief by Alistair McLeod a much-acknowledged Canadian writer. The story concerns a Highland family immigrating to Cape Breton and eventually spreading eastward from there. Also at the same time, pub Friday happens with a cash bar, fun and fellowship.

June begins with the annual seniors tea at the RancheHouse Wednesday, June 4. Tickets are available for this always-popular event at SOTB reception and FFCS. Tickets are free, but you must have one to attend.

On Saturday, June 6 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. join a geocaching event. Meet at the Cochrane Ranche Historic Site to learn about GPS with a free lunch included. Contact Shannon at 403-851-2959 to register.

On Wednesday, June 11 at 7 p.m., Hank Ernst, a Second World War veteran, will present in picture and word his adventures as part of the Air Corps during the war. Charge is $5 at the door with refreshments included.

On Friday, June 21, SOTB will sell baking during the Alberta 55 Plus Games to ball players and fans. SOTB members will be contacted to provide baking for this sale. Strict guidelines for baked goods from Alberta Health Services will be forwarded to bakers along with details regarding drop off of baking and volunteer jobs available for this event. This is a good opportunity to get on board and help your SOTB.

SOTB is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. except holidays. NOTE: SOTB will be closed Monday, May 19 for Victoria Day.
