Fall and winter packed with activities at Seniors on the Bow

It’s mid October and frost is on the pumpkin and pinching fingers. Seniors on the Bow (SOTB) keep warm with activities and events at the Drop-In Centre. The Fall Fashion Show, an October highlight, takes place Oct. 18 from 2-4 p.m.

The Fall Fashion Show, an October highlight, takes place Oct. 18 from 2-4 p.m. Alia and Tan Jay winter fashions will be featured and refreshments will be served all for $10 (cash bar). Tickets available at the reception desk.

Saturday, Oct. 25 is the date of the Wellness Fair at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre. SOTB will have a booth and there will be many other displays to check out as well. Tickets for the beautiful quilt, which is being raffled off for SOTB, will be available at $2 each. We have printed 1,500 tickets so pick yours up now.

Monday movie matinee takes place at 1:30 p.m. On Oct. 20, Strangers on a Train with Farley Grainger, Robert Walker and Ruth Roman will be featured. On Oct. 27 The Bad News Bears shows with Walter Matthau, Tatum O’Neal and Vic Morrow.

Book club meets Friday, Oct. 31 to discuss I Am Malala. The November book will be Journey to the Heartland by Dawn Richerson, an Alberta author.

Hymn sing gathers Nov. 6 at SOTB for joyful singing and fellowship.

Looking ahead, the speaker series will resume Nov. 26 from 7-9 p.m. Judie and Michael Bopp are facilitators who help groups worldwide learn how to live well together. They will focus on their work in Pakistan and challenge us in ways we can help bring peace here and abroad. Refreshments will be served and it will be $5 at the door.

SOTB Christmas bake sale will take place Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You will be contacted early in November to provide baking.

Annual Christmas dinner will take place Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. with complete turkey dinner and all the trimmings, a bargain at $25 (cash bar).

Volunteers are needed for front desk reception and Drop-In hosts/hostesses. Sign up on calendars at SOTB.

SOTB is open daily, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. except holidays.
