Get out and enjoy Cochrane this summer

Canada Day was an exciting day full of great opportunities to get out and be involved in your community.

Canada Day was an exciting day full of great opportunities to get out and be involved in your community. The Cochrane Royal Canadian Legion’s pancake breakfast and flag raising was a great way to start off this important day, and it was great to see so many people take part.

Following the flag raising, SummerFest got underway. This fun day of activities for both adults and kids was held at the Cochrane Ranche Historic site and drew thousands of people.

Capping off Canada Day in Cochrane was the 16th annual Canada Day Family Festival concert and fireworks at Mitford Park, both presented by the Town of Cochrane and another great success.

Getting out and taking advantage of these events with your family is one of the things that I believe creates tremendous community spirit. Connecting with friends and neighbours, or meeting people new to our community, certainly reinforces a sense of belonging.

There are still more great events to come this summer. Be sure to attend the Model T Ford Club of America 50th Anniversary Tour Show and Shine July 12. Cochrane Classic Bullriding will be July 25 and the Labour Day Parade and Rodeo takes place over the Labour Day long weekend.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer and I encourage you to take part in all or some of these events, as they are excellent opportunities to enjoy our own amazing town and connect with friends and neighbours.
