Helicopter crash sends two to hospital in serious but stable condition

A helicopter crashed northeast of Springbank Airport Feb. 4 shortly after 11 a.m. leaving two men in serious, non-life-threatening condition.

A helicopter crashed northeast of Springbank Airport Feb. 4 shortly after 11 a.m. leaving two men in serious, non-life-threatening condition.

EMS, Rocky View Fire, Cochrane Fire and Cochrane RCMP arrived on the scene of the crash roughly 2km between Range Road 33 and 32 along Township Road 251A.

"On arrival EMS determined there were a total of two occupants aboard, a man in his 40s and a man in his 50s, each taken to the hospital," said Stuart Brideaux, EMS public education officer.

The man in his 40s was taken to hospital in serious, but stable, non-life-threatening condition and the man in his 50s in stable, non-life-threatening condition.

One of the men was reported to be a flight instructor while the other a student, according to EMS on scene. RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
