Popular events return for SOTB fall season

September movie matinees on Mondays at 1:15 p.m. are The Longest Ride, Sept. 21. This is a romance/drama about an older man and a young couple’s lives intertwining. On Sept. 28, I’ll See You in My Dreams shows another romance drama about lives renewed.

Note that Qigong resumes Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Acrylic painting starts Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m. (sign up at the Town of Cochrane for painting).

You should be signed up for the DOTS presentations, Brain Boosting Iron Chef Challenge Sept. 17 or 24 and Understanding Brain Health Sept. 18. Contact town recreation at 403-851-2534 for further information or to register. Physical health is important as we age, but so is mental health.

Book club meets Friday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. to discuss Through Black Spruce by Joseph Boyden, a look at Canadian indigenous life. October’s book is An Inconvenient Indian, a look at history from an indigenous viewpoint.

A senior’s favourite, hymn sing, resumes Sunday, Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m. Come raise your voice in joyful song and enjoy fellowship and refreshments with others.

On to October, there will be a mini food-handling course Thursday, Oct. 15 at noon. This is a valuable course for anyone working in the kitchen or as coffee drop-in host/hostess. Sign up at SOTB.

The election forum is Friday, Oct. 9 from 6:30-8:45 p.m. Four contenders will be in attendance. The event is open to the public, so arrive early to ensure yourself a seat. No charge.

The annual flu clinic will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Bring your Alberta health card and a piece of ID. Come early and avoid the crowd.

The highlight of the season is the Fall Fashion Show with ‘styles in motion’ Saturday, Oct. 17 from 2-4 p.m. Following the modelling, garments will be for sale. Models will be needed. Contact Marguerite Norlander at 403-932-4286 if interested.

The AED workshop happens Thursday, Oct. 29 at 1:30 p.m. A valuable session, which will enable you to help in case someone has a heart attack.

SOTB is open daily Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. except for holidays. We will be closed Monday, Oct. 12 for Thanksgiving Day.
