Respirators essential in saving lives

A respirator is not a machine with an on/off switch that we can choose to use or not use, according to how we feel.
letter-to-the-editor

In response to the idea that seniors who need respirators should just have one and cut down on the overwhelmed health care system.

A respirator is not a machine with an on/off switch that we can choose to use or not use, according to how we feel.

The reason people on ventilators are in intensive care units, is because when you require one, your life is in danger.

A ventilator requires a hole be made in the trachea and then you proceed from there.

A team of respirator technologists, doctors and nurses is required.

So the idea of setting up every person needing a ventilator would require a team for each person in their home is ECONOMIC NONSENSE.
