Seniors' Week in Alberta will kick off events at beginning of June at SOTB

There are just a few events remaining to complete May, with the highlight being the spring fashion show Saturday, May 23 at 2 p.m. Garments are featured from Alia and Tan Jay, beautiful clothing at a reasonable price.

Garments are featured from Alia and Tan Jay, beautiful clothing at a reasonable price. Purchase tickets at our front desk reception for $10 for Seniors on the Bow (SOTB) members and $12 for guests. Delicious dessert will be served along with coffee and tea. Beer and wine will be available at $4 per glass. There will be a 50-50 draw and a harpist will entertain.

The Monday movie matinee May 25 at 1:15 p.m. will be The Imitation Game, the story of the allies cracking the Enigma Code during the Second World War. The film comes highly recommended.

Also May 25, the foot doctor will be at SOTB from 8:30 a.m. to noon; to make an appointment, call Dorothy at 403-851-0812.

Book club meets Friday, May 29 at 2 p.m. to discuss The Paris Wife. For June, each member will read a book of their own choice to bring for discussion June 26.

June kicks off with Seniors’ Week, celebrating our legacy, from June 1-7 with activities every day of the week. The schedule follows:

- Monday movie matinee, June 1 at 1:30 p.m. – Casablanca

- Tuesday, June 2 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. – tour of Water Treatment Plant at 141 West Terrace Point

- Wednesday, June 3 at 1:30 p.m. – seniors’ tea at the Cochrane RancheHouse. Free, but obtain tickets at FCSS or SOTB. Also June 3 at SOTB – Cochrane Youth Glee Club at 7 p.m. No charge.

- Thursday, June 4 at 1:30 p.m. – boost your marvelous brain at SOTB

- Friday, June 5 at 12:30 p.m. – homemade hot lunch for $3 at SOTB; register at 403-932-6002

- Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to noon – Stockman`s Memorial Library at the Cochrane RancheHouse

- Sunday, June 7 from 1 to 2 p.m. – Qigong (a form of Tai Chi) at Mitford Park; register at 403-851-2354.

SOTB is open daily Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. except for holidays.

VOLUNTEERS: front desk reception and coffee drop-in hosts/hostesses; please sign up on large calendar at SOTB. If you are not a regular volunteer please consider signing up for blank spaces on the calendar.
