Spring on the horizon at SOTB

Winter is almost over and spring arrives March 20, at least according to the calendar. April will continue the busy schedule at Seniors on the Bow (SOTB). SOTB hours run daily, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m., closed for holidays.

SOTB hours run daily, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m., closed for holidays.

On the Easter weekend, SOTB will be closed April 3 (Good Friday) and April 6 (Easter Monday). On Friday, April 17, SOTB will close early at 12 p.m. so volunteers may head to the bowling alley (more details below).

April hot lunch will be served Friday, April 10 at 12:30 p.m. For $6 you will get sliced ham and scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, homemade buns and dessert. Please register by Wednesday, April 8. Pub Friday will follow at 2 p.m. with drinks for $4 each as well as fun, fellowship and games.

On Saturday, April 11, Cochrane volunteers will be honoured at the Cochrane Movie House beginning at 9 a.m. Watch for more details.

SOTB will close at noon to allow our faithful volunteers to get themselves over to Cochrane Lanes bowling alley by 12:30 p.m. for fun, food and rollin’ dem balls. How many strikes can you make? Please RSVP to Shannon or Blossom by Thursday, April 2.

Notice of AGM: meeting takes place Wednesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. It is very important that you be there because this is your club and we need your input.

Book club meets Friday, March 27 at 2 p.m. to discuss Sue Monk Kidd’s latest novel, The Invention of Wings.

April’s book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, a story about how a young girl survives the war and saves books from burning.

Monday movie matinees at 1:30 p.m. will feature: The Homesman, (March 23) about three women driven mad by pioneer life who seek to escape; The Judge (March 30), a mystery story that brings a big city lawyer home to his roots; the highly rated film Wild (April 13) about one woman’s 1,000 mile hike along the Pacific Coast Trail; Big Eyes (April 20), a drama about the awakening of painter Margaret Keane; and April 27, the story of Princess Grace of Monaco is featured in Grace of Monaco.
