Seniors on the Bow (SOTB) strives to involve young people in senior programming.

The second ‘intergenerational program’ begins today (Feb. 20) from 2:15-3:15 p.m. and brings students from St. Timothy High School. The program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:15-3:15 p.m.

On Tuesdays, the seniors and students will work in the SOTB commercial kitchen.

Thursdays will feature special interest programs and possibly student technical teaching to seniors. Any senior interested in meeting and interacting with youth can contact Shannon at 403-932-7245.

Monday matinee at 1:30 p.m. features Cloud Atlas Feb. 24.

This is a science fiction adventure drama showing how actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future.

Health talks will resume on designated Tuesdays.

On March 4, the topic is ‘dietary habits as we age,’ presented by Anne Gilbert.

On March 11, Gilbert will direct a shopping trip to Safeway to learn about reading labels wisely and choosing foods to suit your budget. No charge, but pre-register at SOTB.

The book club meets March 14 at 2 p.m. to discuss The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. The March selection is by Alice Monroe, a Canadian author recently awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. She has written many short stories and her book Girls and Women was chosen for March.

Coffee with the Mayor has resumed. The next meeting will be March 19 at 2 p.m. Drop in fee applies.

Volunteers! We urgently need folks to commit to helping out at the reception desk, to host Coffee with the Mayor and to help with special events.

It’s a good way to help out SOTB and to meet other seniors with similar interests. Call the Seniors Drop In Centre for more information.

The Seniors Drop In Centre is open Monday to Friday, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m.

For more information or registration contact 403-932-6002 or cochrane.ca/sotb.
