Rocky View County has announced the offering of bulk gravel for sale to residents on a seasonal basis and throughout the summer months.
For the 2022 season, gravel is available for sale at Reeve Gravel Pit, located on Township Road 283 north of Cochrane, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 23, July 28, Aug. 25, and Sept. 22.
According to the County, gravel sales are only available in bulk and a tandem gravel truck or larger similar vehicle is required for pick-up.
“Loading of material will be done by the County free of charge, but you are responsible to arrange your own tandem gravel truck (or larger) to haul the material at your own expense,” reads a statement on the County’s website. “Pick-up trucks and utility trailers will not be loaded and partial loads are not allowed.”
Furthermore, gravel tickets will need to be pre-purchased in person or by mail order prior to pick-up. In-person tickets can be purchased at the County Hall in Balzac from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays).
Payments may be made by cash, debit, cheque, or credit card (Mastercard/Visa) and proof of identity and residency in the form of a driver’s license is required at time of purchase.
Alternatively, RVC residents interested in purchasing gravel may complete and mail a gravel ticket order form along with a cheque made payable to Rocky View County and proof of payment of their 2021 County Property Taxes to confirm both residency and identity.
“Tickets will be mailed out upon receipt of gravel ticket order form, payment, and proof of residency,” reads the website.
According to the County, there is an annual limit of 10 gravel tickets per material type, per tax roll, and each ticket is eligible for one tandem 12-tonne gravel truck load of material. Tickets are refundable and do not expire, but are for personal use only and may not be transferred to another person.
Commercial sales are also prohibited.
