Rocky View County (RVC) council voted to retain one chief elected official and replace another at its annual organizational meeting on Oct. 17.
Councillors voted to retain Division 3 Coun Crystal Kissel as reeve. However, last year’s deputy reeve, Division 6 Coun. Sunny Samra was not re-elected to the position. Instead, council voted to appoint Division 2 Coun., and former mayor, Don Kochan as deputy reeve.
The reeve serves as head of council, and chairs council meetings. Under the County’s system, councillors select a reeve and deputy reeve for a one-year term.
Council also appointed councillors and public members to various boards and committees on Oct. 17. Several of the available positions were advertised in advance, and council reviewed resumes and applications ahead of the vote.
