Alexa Angela Charbonneau of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Monday,
July 29, 2019 at the age of 24 years.
Alexa was born in Calgary, AB. She attended Cochrane High School and
graduated with her Resource Room diploma. Alexa was a member of the
Cochrane Challengers, and Special Olympics Swimming. Alexa enjoyed
challenger bowling, challenger baseball, boating, and dance. She was
particularly excited and proud of herself when dumping out numerous puzzles,
matching shapes and completing them all. She thrived on praise and making
people laugh. Alexa loved to be with family. She loved to help in the kitchen
and to shop with her mom, Bonnie. She liked to have treats from Starbucks or
Tim’s with her “sister darling” and best friend Carly. With her dad Steve, she
wanted to help make breakfast on weekends and she loved to go for rides in
the red car to the airport to watch the planes, especially if it included a “secret”
from McDonalds. Alexa loved the lake, boating and was the spotter for those
who skied, boarded or surfed. She loved flowers and helping her mom in the
garden using her own little watering can. Spotting a ripe cherry tomato, picking
it and popping it into her mouth brought her so much happiness. Her most
memorable vacations were the yearly vacations to the Shuswap to boat and
watch and wave at the trains “Toot Toot!”, and to travel to the Turks and Caicos
for the beach. As an adult, Alexa attended CLAS in Cochrane, where she
continued to love life with her friends and workers. Alexa had a deep love and
affection for many of her workers who became a very important part her life.
Alexa was a sweet, gentle, genuine, honest, thankful, polite soul whose love
for people came without conditions or trappings. Her family, dog and friends
were all she needed in life. In her own special way she made all who knew
her and loved her, better people. Her favourite quotes to her family were,
“I help you Mumma?”, “Wuv woo”, “Kiss me”, “Hug me”, “Sister Darling” and
“More gas Dad.”
Alexa is survived by her father and mother, Steve and Bonnie, of Cochrane,
AB; sister, Carly Charbonneau, of Cochrane, AB; her grandparents, Ruth
and Glenn Gordon, of Kingston, ON, and Sherle and Larry McLachlin, of
Collingwood, AB; aunts, Heather (Ken Cook) Charbonneau of Calgary, AB,
