Engelman, David Lindsay
Dave Engelman, devoted husband of Linda Engelman and influential Dad of Lucy Engelman passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the age of 60.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Dave, know that he could never stop talking about his family, whether he was boasting about their adventures, showing off their cool matching tattoos, or reminiscing about the fun times had on the deck, in the garage, in his home, or out in the woods. His wife of 34 years and partner in crime of 42 years, Linda, was always by his side as they tackled the next challenge, life milestone, or one of Dave’s next unconventional dreams.
His daughter Lucy will never forget her dad, the man who taught her to always watch out for the details, live for today, and to always take care of and accept your people for who they are. Dave was always encouraging Lucy to ‘fly the coop’ and make her life what she wanted, but his unwavering support and consistent dependability was the reason she always loved coming back to the ‘nest/hood’ when she could. Lucy has especially fond memories involving her dad and his drinking buddy, Carolina (dic).
Dave will also be missed by his brother, JR; sister in-law Gail; nephews, Kyle and Craig; and his always-witty verbal sparring partner, UW. He was always so proud to be an Engelman and loved talking about his younger years and the wild times he had with his parents, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
This City of Calgary garbage man, trustworthy co-CEO of Sunrise, neighborhood prankster/cook/snow blower, reliable friend, drinking buddy, fierce cook-off competitor, water-fight starter, tool collector, aspiring photographer, inventive problem solver, jack of all trades master of none, big dreamer, early-riser, witty conversationalist (especially via text), crib master, was the go-to man for so many. He loved his people and loved animals even more (just ask his trusty side-kick, Puck). He always found an excuse to have fun and would want everyone to keep having the time of their lives, love on their people unconditionally, and enjoy a nice cold Labatt Blue when it suits them.
There will be a celebration of life held on December 21, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. (the first day of camping season) at Ducks on the Roof; 205 3 Ave #10, Cochrane AB, T4C 1A8.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dave’s memory to the Cochrane Humane Society or, to Linda’s beer fund.
