Springbank residents looking to kick up their Christmas and community spirit are encouraged to string up their bright lights and give their neighbours a run for their money.

Coun. Kim McKylor is daring Springbankers to deck out their homes and dazzle drivers, with some hefty prizes up for grabs for the top three winners in Light Up Springbank.

“I always like driving around at Christmas and looking at Christmas lights,” said McKylor, who will be one of the judges along with Winnie Maksymiuk of the Springbank Lions Club, Ward 5 trustee Judi Hunter and Bill Tajcnar - president of the Springbank Heritage Club.

First place is valued at $700 and includes four rounds of golf at Springbank Links, including dining and shopping credits; second place is a $250 gift card to Cross Iron Mills; and third place is a $200 gift certificate for an interior/exterior auto detailing.

Entry deadline is Dec. 17 for the contest which will be awarded on Dec. 18 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Email [email protected].
