Dear editor: On behalf of the board of LCARF (Little Creeks and Rough Fescue Appreciation Society) I would like to express thanks to the volunteers who helped make our July 18-19 ‘watershed weekend’ event such a success.

Dear editor: Re: Editorial “Meet each other half way,” July 24. This editorial presents many of the salient points involved in the issue of multi-stage, high pressure horizontal hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) occurring now in Alberta.

Dear editor: In a recent column from Morgan Nagel (‘Environmental conservatism must prevail,’ July 24), the councillor seems puzzled by how a “proud Albertan conservative,” such as himself, could be at odds with the environmental movement.

Dear editor: Re: SummerFest’s July 25 recognition of Cochrane’s pioneer settlers. The recent recognition of pioneer settlers of the Cochrane area was an excellent idea, but of the 14 families recognized, two were not in the Cochrane area.

Dear editor: High water levels at Cochrane Lake have been an ongoing source of concern this year. Many views have been expressed regarding what is being done to assist residents.

Dear editor, Another horrific incident was presented to me last week. A fellow Cochranite spotted a cycling victim of a hit and run west of Bragg Creek. Allegedly, a pickup driver hit the rider then glanced off a guardrail and fled the scene.

Dear editor: Be thankful for August. The month of August will again be a reprieve for Rocky View residents.

Dear editor: I am taking a minute to let you and your staff know how impressed I was with your special cover edition commemorating the August Heritage Days long weekend in Cochrane.
