Cochrane council members doled out a handful of grants to various community organizations on Oct. 9 — $10,641 in total. The town received 13 applications, totalling nearly $21,000 in grant requests.

The Cochrane Foundation will be holding their annual fall dinner Oct. 26 this year, featuring a special guest appearance by Barb Higgins (former journalist and newscaster for Calgary CTV), this year’s featured speaker.

The annual Cochrane and Area Humane Society (CAHS) Fall Book Sale is a two-day affair, taking place Oct. 19-20 from noon-5 p.m. “The goal of the Fall Book Sale is to raise $4,000,” explained CAHS spokesperson, Cheryl Wallach.
